Your Comfort
We take measures to make sure that your visit is as comfortable as possible. We offer headphones and a large selection of music so that you can relax during treatment. Blankets and neck pillows also help you feel at home in our office.
For those who are wary of needles, Dr. Toney employs a method of giving local anesthesia that reduces the discomfort associated with an injection so that many patients feel no discomfort whatsoever. First, he uses a very strong topical anesthetic to numb the gums. Next, he gives the first injection with a warmed, local anesthetic that has a neutral PH so that patients don’t experience a burning sensation. Dr. Toney may add a different anesthetic in the area that is already numb to assure total comfort.
Some people have difficulty getting numb. Dr. Toney has this issue himself. Because he understands this problem from personal experience, Dr. Toney has studied the causes of this phenomenon and is very successful at numbing even the most difficult cases. Palatal injections are also more comfortable with a needle-less injector called a Madajet. Dr. Toney is one of the few dentists in the country to use this technique. We can also administer nitrous oxide or oral sedation for anxious patients.
